"Empowering Communities: Hurdo's Social Services and Economic Opportunities Initiatives"
Humanitarian Umbrella for Relief and Development Organization (HURDO) is a local non-profit organization established in 2014 to respond to humanitarian needs and empower the community in the fight against poverty, human rights, unemployment, and drought’s consequences. HURDO Organization is managed by independent, non-partisan indigenous professionals who have been experienced practically and technically in various fields of capacity building in humanitarian sectors and community development projects as they have had special trainings (TOTs) in the sectors of humanitarian interventions, human rights, child protection, and capacity building programs.
HURDO organization is aimed at tackling the humanitarian crisis, including droughts and disaster prevention, and also develops community basic social service needs and creates employment opportunities and income generation projects for youth, women, IDPs, and poor rural communities to reduce the level of poverty and contribute to the National Development Goals.

To Empower the community in the target areas to break the vicious cycle of poverty, social isolation and to restore hope for a better future to achieve economic independence and social responsibility. We believe that every person has the right to access resources and opportunities in order to live and develop with dignity and to become an active and contributing member of our society.
Our Mission
Working together for socio-economic development in the target societies through the strengthening of their capacity and the implementation of programs and humanitarian interventions with a participatory approach to all levels of community to defeat poverty and ignorance and reach prosperity with stability and a protective environment.
Our Objectives
HURDO is working towards achieving the following objectives for the benefit of its target group of the poor, socially and economically deprived people.
- To help and develop the distressed, needy, neglected and vulnerable people in socially and economically by providing them necessary assistance for sustaining their lives and conditions specially the women and children as well
- To promote good governance and gender equitability with special focus on women/girl’s empowerment and eliminations of all forms of violence against women including FGM, rape, domestic violence
- To help and develop the distressed, needy, neglected and vulnerable people by providing them necessary assistance for sustaining their lives and conditions specially the women and children as well and ensure that human rights of all persons are secure of in their enjoyment of their goods and freedoms that are necessary in dignified living.
