Management Team

The Management Team (referred to as the ‘Team”) shall deal with the day-to day activities of HURDO (referred to as the ‘Organization’) business, develop and implement the Organization plans, policies, procedures and budgets that have been recommended and approved by the Board of Directors (referred to as the ‘Board’).

The Management Team shall monitor the operating and financial performance of the Organization, prioritize and allocate Organizational resources, manage and develop talent and manage the risk profile of the Organization.

These staffs have skills in engineering, health, nutrition, business administration, project management and other specialized fields. Many of the key staffs leading the organization are people with extensive knowledge and experience.
HURDO has policies and procedures that respect the values and good ethics that applies the principles of:

i) Accountability and transparency in fulfilling its duties of helping the most vulnerable and poor in the society and the donors’ community.

ii) Strict observation and fulfillment of obligation and commitment effectively within the planned period.

 

iii) Flexibility, innovative approach that is indigenous, appropriate and sustainable.

 

HURDO financial management structure is inter-departmental collaboration headed by finance officer of the organization, the accountant and cashier. The finance office reports to the Executive Director. Financial decisions are undertaken in bottom –up style but are collective. The accountant prepares and checks documents/vouchers to verify with the head office. Whether they are in line with approved budget once order/voucher is authorized, payment is released via cheques and then documented and recorded according to financial policies. The finance department also has a clear role in the approval of all procurement services and contracts. The departments strive as much as possible to prepare three bids then selects from the cheapest bid to get services such as stationary and or office equipment.

Payments are done through our bank accounts, cheques and petty cash, the accountant prepares and issues cheques for approval by Head of finance and authorized by Executive Director of the Organization. Any received cash and cheque are first recorded then transferred to the HURDO bank account. HURDO financial reports are prepared on month, quarterly and yearly basis. Monthly reports are internal report showing financial situation of the organization specially cash and liquidity and also bank and cash reconciliation while Quarterly reports are for managerial level and organizational partners. Yearly reports are prepared for the BOD and donors and consist of balance (net worth report) income statement, budget and actually variance with checks through financial records and specified documentation.

In addition, HURDO has a financial program and it is possible to generate reports to be used when monitoring the financial status of ongoing projects and for generating financial reports for donors. The main report is the Budget Follow-Up Report. The report shows the project budget as entered into program, expenditures booked on the project and the remaining budget that can be used for future spending.
